Healthy Valentine’s Day

celebrate fitness together!
healthy valentines day

If the idea of celebrating conjures memories of food and alcohol hangovers and you’re just not feelin’ it this year…

I hear ya sister!

But, you do not have to forgo a good time just because you’re on a health journey and don’t want the bloat, headache, nausea, and inflammation that comes from stuffing yourself at the Japanese bistro and overindulging in alcohol.

There are all kinds of things you and your significant other can do to celebrate Valentine’s Day that doesn’t involve MSG’s and too much chocolate.

Celebrate with…

>>> a new gym membership for 2!

Nothing is hotter than getting your swole on together ;-)

>>> Couple’s massage

Relaxing and great for your body on many levels.

>>> Farm to Table dinner

Healthy is becoming a trend in the dining world. You don’t have to look too far to find restaurants serving up healthier dishes with locally sourced food.

>>> Plan an outdoor activity

Whether you have an old go-to you both enjoy or you're trying something new, an outdoor adventure is incredibly romantic. Perhaps a winter hike, snowshoeing, ice fishing, or hitting the slopes.

>>> Sauna

Find access to a sauna. Just like a massage, the sauna comes with a ton of health benefits and it’s super relaxing.

>>> Healthier wine

There are several companies that sell organic dry wines with fewer carbs and additives marketed for the more health conscience wine lover. Dry Farm Wines and Fit Vine wine are two that come to mind.

Or, you can skip the booze altogether and try out Kin High Rhode. This is a blend of adaptogens and stimulants that mimick the relaxing and uplifting effects of booze without the alcohol itself.

>>> Dark chocolate

Keep your candy but give it a healthy makeover! Dark chocolate is actually quite healthy, especially compared to the milk chocolate version typically seen in the SAD diet.

Whether one of you or both of you are on a health kick this year, these are just a few things you may consider for your celebration.

PS - Someone send this blog post to my husband and I’ll return the favor!

To my husband, if you're reading this...

I want all these things! Snowshoeing, then off to the spa for dark chocolate-covered strawberries with a Kin cocktail followed by 15 minutes in a super hot sauna before our massage. If I’m not too exhausted let’s head out for a nice dinner at a farm-to-table style restaurant.
